T1 International

There are a number of facilities and services across the Sydney Airport precinct to help make your journey more relaxing.

Accessible facilities


We're committed to providing terminal services that are readily accessible by all members of the community. A full list of accessible facilities and services can be found on our accessible services and facilities page.

Assistance Animal Relief Area

T1 International

The assistance animal and watering facility is available on the arrivals level of the T1 International terminal. The facility can be accessed by inbound passengers only.

It is located opposite Gate 54, just before the Heinemann Duty Free store.

T2 Domestic

New assistance animal relief facilities are available after security screening in the T2 Domestic terminal.

The facilities are located on the concourse level, adjacent to the Heinemann retail area.

A temporary animal relief facility is also available on the arrivals level, opposite baggage reclaim carousel 2.

Baggage storage by Smarte Carte

Level 1

If you need particular baggage services including the storing of any items at the airport, Baggage Storage™ operated by Smarte Carte operate baggage storage, online visa application, printing and faxing services at the one facility.

Baggage Storage™ by Smartecarte is located towards the southern end of the Arrivals level of International Terminal (T1) opposite Blooming Trails (florist).

Changing places


Changing places bathrooms provide full size change tables and hoists to meet the needs of people with profound disabilities to provide facilities to use amenities more comfortably.

Sydney Airport has adult change facilities in the domestic and international terminals, at the following locations:

  • T1 International terminal - Arrivals, near Gate 54 (accessible to international arriving passengers only)
  • T1 International terminal – Arrivals, adjacent to our Meeting Point
  • T2 Domestic terminal – Arrivals concourse, opposite baggage carousel 2
  • T3 Domestic terminal – Departures concourse, adjacent to Qantas Service Desks (before security)

Early check-in trial

We’re trialling early check-in at T1 International. If you’re flying with selected airlines, you can check in up to five hours before departure.

Participating airlines include:

  • Air China
  • Beijing Capital Airlines
  • China Southern
  • China Eastern
  • Hainan Airlines
  • Sichuan Airlines
  • Tianjin Airlines
  • Xiamen Air

Free Wi-Fi


Free Wi-Fi is available throughout T1 International. Simply select Sydney Airport Free WiFi from the list of available networks, answer the questions, read the terms and conditions and click "Proceed". You will be shown a sponsored message then directed to a website.

This public access Wi-Fi service is not encrypted so please ensure services such as banking, e-mail and social networking sites have security such as SSL enabled.

Google Maps Indoor Live View

Google Maps Indoor Live View is now available at Sydney Airport.

Indoor maps is a new augmented reality feature on Google Maps - available in both international and domestic terminals - designed to help passengers find gates, baggage claims, retail outlets, dining options, restrooms, ATMs and more.

For any wheelchair or accessibility passengers, please select the ‘Wheelchair accessible’ preference to find wheelchair, pram and suitcase friendly paths. You can also turn on audio navigation prompts, in addition to visual cues.

Hotels


Whether you’re travelling early in the morning or have some time between flights, you may to choose to stay at a hotel close to the terminal or at the Aerotel, located in the Arrivals hall at T1 International.

Our Airport Ambassadors wear bright blue jackets to ensure they are easily identifiable and stand out.

International Student Welcome Desk
Level 1

The NSW International Student Welcome Desk is staffed by helpful student volunteers in yellow shirts ready to welcome, assist and answer questions from arriving students. The Welcome Desk offers, free student merchandise, guides and maps with information on iPads and screens.

You’ll find the Welcome Desk at T1 International in the Arrivals Hall opposite passenger exit A.

Opening hours

The International Student Welcome Desk is open 24/7 unstaffed and has volunteers between 7am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm daily.

Lost Property


If you lost something in one of our terminals, visit our Lost Property page.

If your item wasn’t found at our terminals, it may have been found on an aircraft or on public transport. Here are some additional contact details to help you find your lost property.

Airlines - Contact your airline for lost and delayed baggage, or if you have left something on board an aircraft.

Baggage Handlers - Your airline may contract out the management of lost, delayed or damaged baggage to a ground handling agency.

Lost passports - Lost passports found within the terminals are handed over to the Australian Border Force. They can be contacted via 1300 561 330 or by visiting their website.

Sydney Trains - For any items left on the train.

Taxi - If you left something in a taxi, you should contact the relevant taxi company directly.

Please note, Lost property services at T1 and T2 are provided free of charge. Sydney Airport does not work with third party lost property services.

Lounges


There are multiple airline and pay-to-use lounges located after security at T1 International terminal, giving you the chance the sit back and relax before boarding your next flight.

In the Arrivals hall, the Plaza Premium lounge is located within Aerotel which offers pay-to-use access.

Level 3

The Medical Centre located on level 3 of the T1 International terminal offers a range of medical services for travellers, staff and visitors to the airport.

Medical Travel Companions


If you require additional medical assistance* before, during or after your flight, Medical Travel Companions offer a comprehensive assistance service for passengers travelling through Sydney Airport.

Meeting and conference rooms


Looking for a convenient place to meet while you're travelling? Our modern meeting and conference rooms at T1 International are well equipped with a range of audio visual equipment to ensure your next meeting runs smoothly.

Kingsford Smith Suite: located landside on Level 3 of T1 International, above WH Smith, the Kingsford Smith Suite can be set up in a variety of configurations, and caters for up to 150 people seated or 200 standing. Please email us if you wish to make a booking.

Plane spotting


With three runways, more than 300,000 aircraft movements a year and a wide range of aircraft arriving and departing each day, Sydney Airport is a great location for plane spotting.

Prayer room
Level 3

A prayer room is located on Level 3 of International Terminal (T1) to accommodate the religious needs of travellers.

A second prayer room is located within the taxi holding area at T1 to service the requirements of all taxi drivers.

Both prayer rooms are located before security.

Showers
Level 2

Shower facilities are available on level 3 of the T1 International terminal, before security.

There are also shower facilities located airside (passenger only access) near Gate 31, Gate 51 and Gate 24 (male only) on the Departures level.

You will need to provide your own supplies for the use of the shower. These supplies may also be purchased at some of our retail outlets.

Smoking areas


NSW legislation states it is an offence to smoke within four metres of a pedestrian entrance or exit of a public building. NSW Health Inspectors are responsible for enforcement and can issue $550 fines to people who do not comply with the law.

Smoking is not permitted inside the airport terminals.

To accommodate smokers, we provide designated smoking areas outside our terminals. If you are a smoker, we ask that you please ensure you use the designated smoking areas provided and do not smoke in the marked smoke-free areas.

Our designated smoking areas can be found on our terminal maps.

There are no smoking areas for passengers transiting through T1 International.

Toilets are located throughout the International Terminal (T1).

Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS)


There are two Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) offices located at T1 International:

  • Departures hall after security
  • Arrivals hall, between Arrivals A and Arrivals B

Each airline has its own arrangement for the carriage of pets. Please contact your airline to find out more.

Jet Pets

Jet Pets are a worldwide service providers for transporting pets and may be able to assist in transportation.

Hanrob Pet Hotel

Hanrob Pet Hotel is located close to the airport and offers a number of pet services including pet accommodation, daycare and training.

Travel agency


A travel agent is located at T1 International terminal on Departures level, close to check-in G.

VIP Rooms


Sometimes, you need the VIP treatment. Our VIP rooms are located at T1 International, and their use is considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to security and government regulations.

Water fountains

Drinking water is available from the water fountains located throughout T2 Domestic. The fountains are clearly sign-posted and located at most toilets where you are welcome to fill up your water bottles.
